Privacy Policy

FluentDB is a native Mac app built to keep your data on your machine. This policy explains the little we do receive, and everything we deliberately don't.

1. Who we are

FluentDB is operated by Westlabs LLC (“FluentDB,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), 704 Wallace Street, Clovis, New Mexico 88101, United States. We are the controller responsible for the limited personal information described below. You can reach us any time at support@fluentdb.ai.

This policy covers the FluentDB macOS application (the “App”) and our website at fluentdb.ai (the “Site”).

2. Information we do not collect

FluentDB is local-first by design. Because of how the App is built, we never receive:

  • Your database contents: rows, tables, and query results stay on your Mac and travel only between your machine and the databases you connect to.
  • Your queries and query history: stored locally on your device, never uploaded to us.
  • Your connection credentials: database hostnames, usernames, passwords, and connection strings are kept in your macOS Keychain and on your Mac. We never see them.
  • Your AI prompts: when you use AI features, requests go directly from your Mac to the AI provider you configured, using your own API key (see Section 5). They do not pass through us.

We have no user accounts, so there is no profile, no login, and no server-side history tied to your identity.

3. Information we do collect

Purchase information (via Stripe)

When you buy a license, our payment processor Stripe collects your payment and billing details and shares with us the information we need to fulfill the order, typically your email address, the product purchased, and order/invoice metadata. We never receive or store your full card number; that is handled entirely by Stripe. We use this to deliver your license, send receipts and license-related emails, provide support, process refunds, and meet tax and accounting obligations.

License activation and updates

To activate a license and enforce the device limits of your plan, the App sends us your license key together with an anonymous device identifier (a value derived from your hardware that does not identify you personally). When the App checks for updates, it also transmits basic technical data such as the app version and operating-system version. As with any internet request, our servers temporarily process the originating IP address. This data is used only to run licensing and updates, and is not used to profile you.

Website

The Site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser user-agent, and request time) for security and reliability. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or third-party analytics that profile you.

4. How we use information

  • To deliver and activate your license and provide the App.
  • To process payments, issue invoices, and handle refunds.
  • To respond to support requests and send essential service emails.
  • To keep the App and Site secure and to prevent license abuse.
  • To comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

We do not sell or rent personal information, use it for advertising, or use your data or queries to train any AI model.

5. Your AI provider

FluentDB's AI features use an API key that you provide. When you ask the AI to write or explain a query, the relevant context, by default your schema (table and column names), not your rows, is sent directly from your Mac to the AI provider you chose (such as Anthropic or OpenAI), or processed entirely on your machine if you run a local model with Ollama. That exchange does not involve our servers, and any information you send is governed by your chosen provider's terms and privacy policy. You control what, if anything, you share with that provider.

6. Sharing and disclosure

We share personal information only with the service providers that help us operate, currently Stripe (payments) and Vercel (website hosting), and only as needed for those services. We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect our rights, safety, or property. We do not sell personal information.

7. Data retention

We keep purchase and license records for as long as needed to support your license and to satisfy legal, tax, and accounting requirements, after which they are deleted or anonymized. Anonymous device identifiers are retained while the associated license is active.

8. Security

We practice data minimization, the best way to protect data is not to hold it. Information in transit is encrypted with TLS, payments run through Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure, and your credentials stay in your macOS Keychain. See our Security page for details.

9. International users

We are based in the United States, and the limited information we process is handled in the United States. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a similar jurisdiction, our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract (to sell and deliver your license), our legitimate interests (to secure the service and prevent license abuse), and compliance with legal obligations (tax and accounting). Subject to local law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email support@fluentdb.ai.

10. California privacy rights

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may request access to or deletion of their personal information by contacting us at support@fluentdb.ai. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

11. Children

FluentDB is a professional developer tool and is not directed to children. It is not intended for anyone under 13, and you must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to purchase a license. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice where appropriate.
